A trio of area high school senior girls played in the Kiwanis All-Star Game Saturday at Spoon River College in Canton.

Kennady Anderson and Paige Huffman from Wethersfield and Ava Strom from Galva all played on the North team.

Wethersfield Coach Todd Hansen was selected to coach the North squad and Jim Belville of Illini Bluffs coached the South team.

“It was an honor to be asked to coach,” said Hansen. “Following an emotional awards banquet (for his Wethersfield team) the night before, it was an absolute joy to coach Paige and Kennady one last time,” he noted.

“All of the girls on the team were great and we had a lot of fun in practice as well as the game, itself. This will definitely be one of the best memories of my coaching career,” added Hansen.

The North team came up big, beating the South squad 96-44. Huffman had a nice game, scoring nine points in the win. Anderson took part in an indoor track meet Saturday and arrived a bit late, but still managed to score seven points. Strom added four points for the North squad.

North team member Julia Sollberger from Dunlap was named the MVP of the game.
