Another conference win for Lady Geese

The Wethersfield Lady Geese swept the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes Tuesday night in LTC volleyball action, 25-5, 25-6. Wethersfield won the sophomore match as well, 25-15, 25-7. 

Senior setter, Raqi Young, had 10 assists on the night and sophomore Abigail Cabada distributed three.

Their key targets were Kendall Vincent and Lajaya Angel with four kills each. Emersyn Nelson and Kennady Anderson had three and two kills, respectively. Sophie Nimrick and Jillian Taylor each added one.

Senior libero Cora Hodge led the team in digs with nine. Vincent and Anderson contributed six and three, Nelson and Nimrick each had one. 

Nelson and Angel led the defensive effort at the net with two blocks apiece. Anderson and Vincent each had one. 

Marlie Lindstrom and Kennady Anderson each served up three aces in the match. 

Wethersfield is now 19-2-1 on the season and 8-0 in Lincoln Trail Conference play. The Tornadoes fall to 2-20 and 1-9 in the LTC. 

The Lady Geese travel to Annawan tonight to take on the 19-4 Bravettes. Annawan suffered their first conference loss Tuesday night at the hands of Biggsville (West Central) 23-25, 16-25. The Bravettes are now 8-1 in the LTC. West Central moves to 15-13 and 5-3 in the conference.
