Annawan-Wethersfield hosted the Titan Invitational Thursday and the A-W girls topped the field of seven teams to claim the girls’ title. Princeville prevailed in the hotly contested boys’ competition.

The Titan girls continue to dominate. They’ve won four of the five outdoor invitationals they competed in this season and were runners-up at a fifth invite.

The A-W girls reigned supreme at the Howard-Monier Invite in Princeton (April 9); the Charger Invite in Orion (April 12); the Ed Schmidt Invite in Erie (April 19); and most recently, the Titan Invite (April 26).

On April 6, the team had an impressive showing at the Don Golden Invite in Mendota. The Titan girls placed second among the field of 12 teams. El Paso (Gridley) won the meet with 89 points and the A-W followed with 72 points.

Titan Invite

In the girls’ competition, the Titans won by a healthy margin over Stark County, but the Rebels prevailed in the race for second place over ROWVA by the thinnest of margins (one half of a point).

There was a tough battle for the top three spots in the boys’ competition. Princeville, Abingdon-Avon and Annawan-Wethersfield all scored over 100 points, but Princeville edged out A-A for the win by four points and beat A-W by just five points.
