A late-night announcement on PhatBoys BBQ restaurant’s Facebook page stated that the restaurant’s last day in operation would be Saturday, Oct. 19. The restaurant officially opened on Wednesday, July 10.
The restaurant is owned by James Hunt and was managed by Dave Vereecke. Hunt purchased the building at 300 W. Third St. that was for many years The Station Restaurant and spent months remodeling it. The menu features brisket, steak and sides such as mac and cheese, coleslaw and baked beans.
The Facebook post stated that it was with an “extremely heavy heart” that they were announcing their closure. The restaurant, the post said, would be open Saturday until the food ran out.

The post thanked the customers for “the love and support” they received and expressed gratitude. Hunt, who appears to have been the author of the post, said he was taking time to spend with his family.
“We are extremely heartbroken this is how it ends for now but again thank you all for the love and support,” the post read.
The post hinted that moving forward, the restaurant could be back.
“We will update as we move forward as this doesn’t mean we will be gone forever!”
