
The Annawan/Wethersfield boys cross country team fared well at Saturday’s Class 1A Bureau Valley Cross Country Regional meet.
The team placed sixth and will advance to Saturday’s Oregon Sectional meet. Riverdale won the boys race with 42 points, while the Geese tallied 154 points.
Bureau Valley finished in ninth place with 239 points, Ridgewood was 10th with 253 and Kewanee placed 11th with 29 points.
Riverdale sophomore Braeden Bode won the boys race in a time of 16:30.70. A/W junior Karson Shrum was the area’s top finisher, placing third in a time of 16:47.90.
Ridgewood senior Fernando Avila-Rubio finished 13th in a time of 17:26.50 and will advance to the Oregon Sectional.
Rounding out the A/W team are sophomore Noah Feltner, 24th with a time of 18:19:10, junior Logan Davis, 30th at 18:32.80, freshman Cash Verstraete, 42nd at 19:08.60, senior Matthew Ponce, 72nd in a time of 21:15.30, freshman Daylon Hendrix, 73rd at 21:16.60 and senior Lucas Fehlberg, 81st with a time of 22:41.60.
Kewanee’s top finisher was sophomore Jason Rusk, placing 51st in a time of 19:29.20.
Galva’s top finisher was sophomore Ian Pacheco, 49th at 19:25.20.
Stark County’s top finisher was sophomore Ethan Grinnell, placing 41st in a time of 23:15.80.
