Galva police report for Feb. 12-18

Feb. 12:

Police responded to an activated medical alarm at a residence on NW Seventh Avenue. The officer was able to gain entry and found a subject that had fallen. Stark County Medic also responded.

Police responded to a request by Stark County Medic to gain entry to a residence in NE Ninth Street after notice of an activated medical alarm.

A 16-year-old driver from Princeville was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE Second Street.

Feb. 13:

Police were notified by Stark County Medic that it had dropped off an intoxicated Galva resident at his parent’s home.

Police responded to a parking complaint involving a vehicle in the handicapped parking spot at Lincoln House. It was noted that the vehicle did have a handicap placard hanging from the rearview mirror.

Police responded to a request for assistance by Woodhull police with a subject that was fighting them. The subject was ultimately tased and arrested by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department.

Police responded to an activated burglar alarm in the 00 block of SW Second Street. It was determined to be a false alarm.

Natalie Muckey, 38, Wataga, was issued a citation for having expired registration and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 900 block of W Sixth Street.

Feb. 14:
Police delivered a message from the Henry County Animal Control Warden to a residence in the 700 block of NW Second Street.

Kelly Smithson, 48, Galva, was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license-expired more than one year in the 200 block of South Exchange Street. She was released with a required court date.

Police were dispatched to the Exchange Street railroad crossing for a crossing malfunction. BNSF was notified for repairs.
Vickie Piper, 58, Dunlap, was issued a citation for speeding on Route 17, just north of the cemetery.

Feb. 15:
Police responded to a request to assist a subject in the 00 block of NE Fifth Avenue.

Feb. 16:
Police assisted Stark County Medic with a subject that had fallen in the 1000 block of North Center Avenue.

Feb. 17:

Police checked on a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of SW First Avenue and SW Second Street. It was determined that the driver was chasing a loose dog.

Gustavo Acevedo Medina, 57, Kewanee, was arrested for being out of compliance with his sex offender registry. He was taken to the Henry County Jail.

Police responded to a neighbor dispute in the 00 block of SW Fourth Street.

Feb. 18:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 400 block of SW Seventh Street. It was determined to be a misdial.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of SE Second Street.

Police responded to a gas drive-off complaint in the 00 block of SW Second Street.

Police responded to a request by the Kewanee police to deliver a message in the 00 block of

SW Fourth Street. No contact was made.

Police responded to a request for a welfare check at a residence on SW Sixth Street. The subject was found deceased and the coroner was contacted to respond.

Steven Ochs, 43, Cambridge, was issued a citation for having expired registration in the 800 block of West Division Street.
