Galva police report for Feb. 5-11

Feb. 5:

Police responded to a report of a dog bite to a child in the 300 block of SW Sixth Avenue. The injury was considered to be minor.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to discuss options for a child who has been acting out at home.

Police made contact for the Knox County Sheriff’s Department in the 100 block of NE Seventh Street in reference to a hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier in Galesburg.

Bryan Folker, 64, Galva, was arrested on a Warren County warrant for failing to appear on traffic charges in the 00 block of SW Fourth Street. He was released with a court date.

Police checked the welfare of a motorist stopped in the 300 block of NW Sixth Avenue.

Feb. 6:

Police responded to a complaint of battery after a resident was reportedly attacked inside his residence in the 200 block of SE Seventh Avenue. The incident remains under investigation.

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department who requested complaint forms and freedom of information request forms.

John Kurzeja, 43, Galva, was arrested for disorderly conduct and false reporting to a public service agency in the 00 block of NE Fourth Street. He was taken to the Henry Co Jail.

Police responded to a 9-1-1 hang-up call in the 00 block of SE Sixth Street. It was determined to be a child playing with the phone.

Feb. 7:

Police responded to a request to remove an unwanted subject in the 00 block of SW Second Street.

Police assisted with a property exchange in the 200 block of Front Street.

Feb. 8:

Police responded to a 9-1-1 open line call that had plotted to the 100 block of SW Seventh Street. The officer was not able to locate anyone needing assistance.

Police conducted a welfare check in the 00 block of SW Fourth Street. The subject was fine.

Police spoke to a resident about a harassment issue with family members by phone.

Police were notified about a vehicle repossession that was taking place in the 600 block of NW Fifth Ave.

Police responded to a complaint of reckless driving at the east edge of Galva. The officer spoke to the driver and advised him of the complaint. No signs of impairment were detected.

Feb. 9:

Police met with a resident at the Galva Police Department to answer questions about a neighborhood concern.

Police responded to a civil standby to retrieve property in the 00 block of NE Fourth Avenue.

Police responded to a complaint of a loose and aggressive dog in the 100 block of NE Ninth Street. The officer was not able to locate the animal.

Police responded to a battery complaint in the 800 block of NW Third Avenue.

Feb. 10:

Leroy Broussard, 23, Henderson, Ill., was cited for operating a vehicle when registration was suspended for no insurance and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 1100 block of SE Second Street. He was released with a court date.

Madelin DeJesus, 48, Galva, was arrested for improper use of registration and operating an uninsured vehicle in the 300 block of SW First Avenue. She was released with a court date.

Police responded to a report of a female yelling for help in the 00 block of SW Fourth Street. The officer was not able to locate the subject.

Police responded to a report of a suicidal subject in the 00 block of SW Fourth Street. The subject was taken by ambulance for evaluation/treatment.

Feb. 11:

Police responded to a complaint involving a dog bite in the 800 block of NW Third Avenue.

Police responded to a loose dog complaint in the 300 block of SE Second Street.
Police, along with the fire department, responded to a report of power lines arcing several miles west of Galva.

Police conducted a welfare check on a child at a residence on NE Third.

Police responded to a traffic complaint involving a car swerving in the 1100 block of SE Second Street. The officer was not able to locate the car.

Hailey Castenada, 26, Kewanee, was issued a citation for speeding in the 1100 block of SE Second Street.
