
The Kewanee freshman girls basketball team recently picked up two wins. On Monday, the Boiler Girls beat Sterling by a score of 24-21 and on Tuesday they defeated Geneseo, 42-21.
Sterling
In the home game against Sterling, the Boiler Girls were down 13-12 after the first half of play. The third quarter proved pivotal as they outscored the Golden Warriors 8-0 and took a 20-13 lead. Kewanee scored just enough points in the fourth quarter to hold on for the 24-21 win.
Eight players scored for the Boiler Girls and four players scored four points a piece.
Geneseo
The Boiler Girls used a big 19-point fourth quarter to secure a 42-21 road win against the Maple Leafs.
Kewanee held a slim 13-10 halftime lead and extended the lead to 23-13 after three quarters of play.
Audrey Clucas scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter and Annie Campbell added six more in the 19-8 frame.
Campbell led all scorers with 14 points and Nolie Charlet added eight on the night.
