Nicole Moehring will take over as the new branch executive for the Kewanee YMCA, according to a news release issued by Two Rivers YMCA. Moehring succeeds Jason Thieme, who accepted a new leadership position with the Kenosha YMCA effective Aug. 8.

“Moehring brings a strong background in both leadership and community service to her new role,” the news release said.

For the past 10 years, she has worked with Walgreens, most recently serving as the store manager at the Geneseo Walgreens since 2019. According to the news release, during Moehring’s tenure, she led “successful teams, fostered strong customer relationships and strengthened operations to better serve the local community.”

Her connection to the local YMCA runs deep. Prior to her career with Walgreens, Moehring worked at the Kewanee YMCA, where she led youth programming and served as a lifeguard. “This early experience with the Y sparked her passion for service and community impact—values that continue to guide her today.”

A graduate of St. Ambrose University, Moehring holds a degree in exercise science and biology, providing her with a unique perspective on health, wellness and youth development.

“We are excited to welcome Nicole back to the YMCA,” said Mike Wennekamp, CEO of Two Rivers YMCA. “Her leadership experience and deep connection to the Y make her uniquely prepared to lead the Kewanee YMCA. Nicole understands the important role the Y plays in strengthening community.”

For her part, Moehring said she looks forward to her new role.

“The YMCA has always held a special place in my heart, and I’m honored to return in this capacity,” she said. “I look forward to building strong relationships, supporting our members and ensuring the Kewanee YMCA continues to be a welcoming place where everyone can grow and thrive.”

The Kewanee YMCA is part of the Two Rivers YMCA Association, serving the Northwest Illinois-Quad Cities regions and surrounding communities with programs that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
