Nine members of the YMCA Flip Tops have qualified to go to Nationals for tumbling and trampoline.

“We trained very hard and there were a lot of obstacles that we had to overcome to get to nationals,” said Coach Stephanie McDorman.

The team’s motto is “believing is achieving,” said Coach Katie Cameron.

The National Tumbling and Trampoline Competition for levels five to seven  will be held in West Palm Beach, Fla. July 28-30. Three of the YMCA tumblers, Leah Loibl, Mekya Powe, and Moriah Powe have qualified to compete in  three events- tumbling, trampoline and double mini. The remaining Flip Tops qualified for two events at the national competition.

Alex Hager qualified to compete in a National competition for level eight and up that is set to take place in Tulsa, Okla.

In order to qualify for the nationals, the tumblers had to achieve a certain score at a regional or state competition.
