KEWANEE — Wings Academy and the Henry‑Stark Special Education District #801 are celebrating another generous show of community support following a $2,500 donation presented last week.
Darrell Peck delivered the contribution to Casey Miller, executive director of the Henry‑Stark Special Education District #801, during a visit to Wings Academy. Joining them for the presentation was Clover, Wings Academy’s facility dog, who was happy to be part of the occasion.
Wings Academy and the Henry‑Stark Special Education District expressed gratitude for the financial gift and for the continued support the program has received from individuals and organizations throughout the community.
Wings Academy opened its doors to students in September 2026 and serves students with significant and individualized educational needs from communities throughout the Henry‑Stark Special Education District.
The program provides a highly supportive learning environment focused on functional academics, communication, social‑emotional development, sensory regulation, daily living skills, vocational readiness and opportunities for students to become more independent at school and in their communities.
Donations such as this one help Wings Academy continue to expand the resources, experiences and opportunities available to its students.
“We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity and encouragement our community has shown Wings Academy,” said Kim Johnson, Wings Academy coordinator. “Every contribution is an investment in our students. Gifts like this allow us to provide experiences, materials, and opportunities that can make a meaningful difference in their lives. We are incredibly thankful to Mr. Peck and Mr. Jackson for believing in what we are building at Wings.”
The Henry‑Stark Special Education District #801 and Wings Academy extended their appreciation to Jackson and Peck Financial Group for their generosity and support of students with disabilities throughout the Henry‑Stark community.
