Ricci McRae took over operations at Timeout Pub & Grub several months back, but she may have “bit off more than she could chew,” she said.
McRae announced on social media Monday that her restaurant on Seventh Street in Kewanee was closing its doors before the lease renewal came due next month.
The restaurant is known for its pizza, and McRae said she decided to take a chance on running operations, but it became too much for one person, she said. That reason, along with her desire to spend more time with her family and enjoy her “golden years” are what led her to make the hard choice.
On Facebook, McRae made the announcement Monday. “We have sincerely appreciated all of the support and memories made, be on the lookout for additional announcements on the future plans for Timeout!”
McRae said she is hoping that the building owner can find someone else to take over and reopen the restaurant, and said she thinks Kewanee is a great community.
“I just hope Kewanee people will remember to support their local businesses,” she said.
While Timeout is closing, the Kewanee Park District has announced that the 19th Hole restaurant will remain open throughout the year. In years past, the restaurant provided seasonal dining from spring until the fall, but at the Kewanee Park Board meeting last month, the issue was raised of trying to keep the restaurant open all year round, with an opportunity to provide a space for holiday parties.

The 19th Hole is located in Baker Park and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The current hours are Monday-Sunday 7 am to 8 pm. The grill closes at 7:30 pm. Breakfast is available all day and specials include “Taco Tuesdays” and Monday “Wing Day.”
The business hours for the year-round service have yet to be determined but should be announced sometime next month.
