Updated Covid-19 vaccine for adults and children available at health dept. clinic

By The Kewanee Voice    November 9, 2023

The Henry and Stark County Health Departments and First Choice Healthcare now have both Pfizer and Moderna updated Covid-19 shots for adults and children, 6 months and older, at clinics in Kewanee and Colona.

Covid-19 shots are available by appointment at both locations, by calling the First Choice Healthcare location in Kewanee at (309) 852-5272 or in Colona at (309) 792-4011.

Adults and children with insurance coverage for the Covid-19 vaccination can obtain either the Pfizer or Moderna 2023-24 updated vaccine. Clients are asked to bring their insurance card with them to their appointment. Moderna “insured” appointments begin on Friday, Nov. 10.

Those with no insurance coverage have the option to choose either the Pfizer or Moderna 2023-24 updated vaccine through the Bridge Access Program or the Vaccines for Children Program.

The vaccine is recommended for all persons over the age of 6 months by both the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the CDC. Older adults and those with weakened immune systems are at the greatest risk for hospitalization and death if they contract the disease. Moreover, healthy children and adults can still experience severe disease.
