The Henry and Stark County Health Departments and First Choice Healthcare announced that this year’s updated Covid-19 shots for children ages 6 months to 18 are available at the First Choice Healthcare Clinics in both Colona and Kewanee.
Children with insurance coverage for the vaccination are eligible for the Pfizer 2023-24 updated vaccine. Parents are reminded to bring their insurance card with them to the appointment.
Children without insurance coverage can choose between the Pfizer or Moderna 2023-24 updated vaccine through the “Vaccine for Children Program” or the ‘Bridge Access Program.”
Vaccinations for adults and children over six months is recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the CDC. Persons will weakened immune systems are at the greatest risk for hospitalization and death. Moreover, healthy children can still experience severe disease.
