Two Kewanee men face charges after an incident early Sunday morning on East Church Street.
Ryker Jackson, 18, and Riley Werderman 19, both of Kewanee, were arrested without incident, police reported.
At approximately 3:08 a.m. Sunday police were dispatched to the 300 block of East Church Street for a report of criminal damage to property. The call also indicated that a subject was armed with a firearm and making threats toward people at the residence.
Upon arrival, officers encountered several people outside the residence and began investigating the incident. Information gathered on scene indicated that two people had approached the residence and damaged a basement window, and that a weapon had been displayed.
Officers conducted on-scene interviews and reviewed video surveillance provided by the homeowner.
Through the investigation, officers identified Jackson and Werderman. Riley Werderman was taken into custody on scene and without incident, police said.
A search warrant was obtained for a residence located on Percil Court where Ryker Jackson was taken into custody without incident. During a search, officers located evidence related to the incident and additional contraband.
Jackson was taken to the Henry County Jail. On Tuesday, the Henry County state’s attorney filed charges against Jackson of aggravated assault (Class A misdemeanor), possession of cannabis 30 to 100 grams (Class A misdemeanor), possession of cannabis with intent to deliver 30 to 100 grams (Class 3 felony), criminal damage to property (Class A misdemeanor), and two counts of disorderly conduct (Class C misdemeanor). Jackson was granted pretrial release and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on April 27.
Werderman was released with a notice to appear for disorderly conduct (Class C misdemeanor) and harassment through electronic communication (Class B misdemeanor)
“The Kewanee Police Department would like to thank Henry/Stark County SWAT and the Henry County Sherriff’s Office for their assistance with this incident,” according to a news release issued by the department Wednesday.
