Titans varsity, JVs win over Knoxville

The Annawan-Wethersfield Titans got a double win over the Blue Bullets of Knoxville last week.

The varsity team won 6-2, and the JV squad won 6-1.

The varsity got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when Devon Horrie singled down the left field line, and Dane Ross grounded into a double play, each scoring one run.

The Blue Bullets tied the game in the top of the third on a ground out by Willie Lawal, and a single by Tanner McGarry.

A single by Nathan Harker gave the Titans the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the fourth.

Horrie opened the game on the mound for the Titans, allowing three hits and two runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking three.

Ross then took the mound and surrendered one hit and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Jaxson Dunn and Maddux Heitzler each collected two hits for the Titans. Harker went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Maddux Heitzler stole three bases. The Titans ran wild on the base paths, tallying four stolen bases for the game. 

The Titans turned one double play in the game. They were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Nic Thurston had the most chances in the field with 10.

The JV Titans scored five runs in the bottom of the first when Cainen Winter singled, scoring one run, London Sain singled, scoring two runs, and Scott Vandesampel doubled, scoring two runs.

The Titans added a run in the third when Winter doubled down the left field line on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.

Cole Dynes began the game for the Titans. The starter allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out seven and walking three. 

Lucas Jones of Knoxville had the Blue Bullets’ only RBI.
