The Annawan-Wethersfield varsity and JV Titans both fell to Abingdon-Avon last wek.
The varsity lost 11-1, and the JV team lost 9-2.
For the varsity, a ground out by Nathan Harker put the Titans on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Tornadoes took the lead in the top of the second. Kolbe Hightower grounded out, scoring two runs, to give the Tornadoes the advantage, 2-1.
The Tornadoes scored eight runs on five hits in the top of the third inning. Elias Carreon drew a walk, scoring one run, Lucas Andrews drew a walk, scoring one run, Hightower doubled, scoring two runs, Alex Foutch singled, scoring two runs, Owen Timmons singled, scoring one run, and Carsen Slagel grounded out, scoring one run.
Myer Heitzler led things off on the bump for the Titans. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and two runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out one and walking none.
Harker pitched three innings in relief for the Titans. The hurler allowed six hits and nine runs (eight earned) while striking out none and walking three.
The outcome of JV game was not much different, as they also faced an unfortunate loss.
The Tornadoes jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Dax Anderson doubled, scoring one run, Connor Froelich singled, scoring one run, and Branson Thomas singled, scoring two runs.
The Tornadoes added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Cooper Anderson singled to center field, the Varsity Titans committed an error, and Thomas was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.
Jaton Huber stepped on the mound first for the Titans. The starter surrendered six hits and seven runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking four.
Cainen Winter pitched three innings in relief for the Titans. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and two runs while striking out two and walking three.
Scott VanDeSampel, Huber, and Cole Dynes each collected one hit for the Titans. VanDeSampel and Jaton Huber each drove in one run for Annawan-Wethersfield Junior Varsity Titans. Cole Dynes stole two bases. The Titans turned one double play in the game.
Still, their efforts were not strong enough as the Tornadoes came out on top with a final score of 9-2.
