On Friday, the Titans played the Ridgewood Spartans in a conference doubleheader.
In these two games, the Titans fell to the Spartans both times— the final scores being 7-0 and 6-0.
To start off the night with game one, the Spartans were the first to get on the board in the first when Avery Humphrey singled, scoring one run.
Pitcher Lauren Davis opened up for the Titans. She went six innings, allowing seven runs (two earned) on eight hits, striking out five and walking one.
Ava Jackson led the Annawan-Wethersfield Varsity Titans with two hits in three at bats from the leadoff position.
But the Titans were unable to safely cross the plate and game one concluded at the end of the top of the seventh with the Spartans taking the win of 7-0.
Game two played out in a similar fashion; the Spartans built their lead a few runs at a time in a 6-0 victory.
A sacrifice bunt by Courtney Thomas put the Spartans on the board in the bottom of the first.
The Spartans added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Thomas doubled down the right field line, and Anna Doubet singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
The starting pitcher, Emersynn Peart, went six innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits, striking out none and walking one.
In this game, Davis led the Titans with two hits in three at-bats.
Once again, the Spartans came out on top with a final score of 6-0.
Looking ahead, the Titans play the Princeville Princes on Wednesday.
