On Friday night, the Annawan-Wethersfield Titans defeated the United Red Storm.
This was the Titans’ first week on their own turf, and they really put that advantage to use, ending the game with a final score of 48-8, which progressed their season record to 3-0.
The student section theme for this game was camo.
Throughout this game, the Titans showed many of their team’s core strengths, which will continue to thrive through this season. United was quick, but it wasn’t enough to top A-W.
The game started with the Titans on kickoff. Soon after, the Titans regained the ball after a punt from the Red Storm.
Once three minutes in, the Titans started to roll. Maddux Heitzler picked up the first touchdown and boosted them to a lead of 7-0.
A little while later Nic Thurston scored a touchdown following a United fumble, putting them at 14-0.
Yet the Titans were still piping hot and full of energy in this quarter. Hietzler, yet again, scored with a whopping 95-yard rushing touchdown to end the first quarter 21-0.
In the second quarter, United and the Titans went hand in hand with each other, creating a controlled and calm sequence of plays. This was until Nic Thurston scored his second touchdown to put the score at 27-0 halfway through the second quarter.
In the second Half, Devon Horrie managed to turn the heat back up, scoring a touchdown 13 seconds into the third quarter, resulting in a score of 34-0.
For the rest of the game, the Titans continued a fierce and well-driven game, leading to two more touchdowns thanks to Heitzler and Danny Heston.
This game was full of impactful moments from the Titans, yet again showcasing how hard work pays off. However, United didn’t go home without a fight. They pulled off a touchdown in the last quarter, finalizing the score to 48-8.
