The Kewanee Voice hires marketing director; seeks editorial assistant

By The Kewanee Voice    October 30, 2024

The Kewanee Voice is expanding operations to include not only a marketing and advertising director but also an editorial assistant.

Earlier this month, The Voice was awarded a $100,000 Press Forward Grant, via the Miami Foundation. The grant will allow the nonprofit online news publication to hire staff that will assist them at better serving the community.

On Monday, Nichelle Morey joined the team as The Voice’s marketing and advertising director. Morey was a long-time marketing director for SBT but retired her position last year. She has also served on The Voice board of directors since March of 2023.

“We feel very lucky that Nichelle agreed to come work for The Kewanee Voice and provide us with her talents. We have no doubt she will be a valuable asset and help up expand our operations and continue our mission of providing news and information to Kewanee,” said Mike Berry, publisher.

The Voice is looking to fill a second position, that of an editorial assistant. The position, which reports to the managing editor, is part-time with an opportunity to turn into a full-time position in the future.

The editorial assistant will assist with office duties as well as write articles, cover local events and meetings and take photographs. For more information about the position, duties and how to apply, click here.
