‘The damage is extensive.’ Kewanee’s storm fallout in photos

The devastating impact of Monday’s storm on Kewanee residents is widespread, with many residents facing serious financial and consequential effects as a result.
Within a few city blocks on the east end of Prospect Street, residents are dealing with entire trees that have fallen onto the roofs of their homes and even downed wires that make returning to their homes unsafe.
At East and Prospect streets, a trampoline caught in fallen tree limbs had become entangled in power lines and remains in the roadway, cutting off traffic. Over a few blocks, high winds had split a tree asunder, with half falling into a resident’s yard. On Vine Street, a large tree branch had fallen onto a porch roof, collapsing it.
In other parts of town, equally devastating damage has occurred. Unlike the 2023 tornado that went through the west and northwest side of town, creating a swath of damage, the sweeping destruction left behind by Monday’s violent storm has negatively impacted the lives of many residents.
