After Lackey Monument stepped in to donate the work needed for an inscription on Woodland Palace, the Kewanee Woman’s Club, who had planned to pay for the job, still wanted to contribute to the ongoing restoration of Fred Francis’ historic home. Their solution is a community soup supper aimed at raising additional funds for the project.
The Kewanee Woman’s Club Soup Supper will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the Kewanee Elks Club. The $10 meal includes a choice of chili, chicken noodle or potato soup, along with dessert and a beverage, coffee, iced tea or water. A cash bar will also be available.

Attendees can also take part in a gift basket raffle and a 50/50 drawing, with all proceeds benefiting the restoration project.
The Woodland Palace restoration project is led by the Kewanee Preservation Society in cooperation with Friends of Woodland Palace, a volunteer group dedicated to preserving and restoring the landmark.
