Runners will once again brave the frozen streets of Kewanee as the Chamber of Commerce hosts the 44th annual Hardcore “Run Your Ice Off” race on New Year’s Eve.
The 5K event begins at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Flemish American Club located at 313 N. Burr Blvd. Organizers promise a festive atmosphere for diehard runners, complete with age-group awards, door prizes and a post-race spread featuring homemade chili and pork sandwiches.
Early registration is encouraged. Participants who sign up by Sunday, Dec. 21 will receive a commemorative sweatshirt. The fee is $40 before the deadline; registration after Dec. 21 is $25 but does not include the sweatshirt.
