The Friends of Johnson Park Foundation got a welcome surprise when they received a substantial donation for the necessary repairs to Ryan’s Round Barn.
The barn is located in the Johnson Sauk Trail Recreation Area just north of Kewanee and initial repairs to the 114 year old historic site have now been completed on the barn, according to Dan Bennett.
The Friends of Johnson Park Foundation are thanking the National Philanthropic Trust for a “very generous donation” that will go towards those repairs.
National Philanthropic Trust (NPT) is an American independent public charity that provides philanthropic expertise to donors, foundations and financial institutions. NPT ranks among the largest grantmaking institutions in the United States. The donations were made in the memory of Dr. George C. Turnbull and Dr. Theodore Turnbull, whose family settled in the nearby Elmira area in the1840’s.
