The League of Women Voters of the Kewanee area invites the public to a watch party of a U.S. senate candidates’ forum.
The event will be held at the Kewanee Public Library on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6:45 p.m. Organizers are asking that participants use the elevator at the back of the library to enter. Refreshments will be served.
There will be two forums, one hour each. WTVP will stream a pre-recorded broadcast starting at 7 p.m. One will be for the Republican candidates and the other for the Democratic candidates.
Each forum includes the top three candidates from the Democratic or Republican parties who met the following criteria: top three candidates in fundraising by October 2025, with a viable active campaign which included an active website and were approved by the election commission of Illinois to run for the U.S. Senate.
Those candidates will appear on the March 17 Republican or Democratic primary election ballot along with the rest of the candidates who did not meet the criteria.
Those interested can also watch or listen from home on WTVP – Peoria or WCBU-FM 89.9 – Peoria broadcasts or streaming from their websites. A recording will be available on the LWV of Greater Peoria YouTube channel and WTVP-Peoria afterwards.
The event is brought to you by the League of Women Voters of Illinois and WTVP television and organized by the League of Women Voters of Greater Peoria.
Participants are invited to submit questions ahead of time by Feb.16 here. The questions need to be addressed to all of the candidates in each primary and relevant to the office of the U.S. Senate. Please indicate if your question is to be addressed to the Republican candidates, Democratic candidates, or both.
LWV and WTVP reserve the right to re-word or modify any questions submitted and have final decision-making authority to select the questions asked during the forum.
