
The host Stark County Rebels used a big first half Saturday to take down Wethersfield by a score of 77-51 in LTC play.
The Rebels (11-8, 4-1) mounted a 15-11 first quarter lead and then took control in the second quarter by outscoring the Geese 25-11 to surge to a 40-22 halftime lead.
Rounding out the first half scoring for Stark County was Rewerts with 12. Rumbold scored 11, and Saner had 10 in the balanced scoring attack.
Leading the way for Wethersfield (6-10, 2-2) was Zeb Rashid with seven, while Landon Sauer and Colin Hornback each had four.
The Rebels extended their lead to 60-39 after three quarters of play. Bowser caught fire for three treys and nine points in the frame.
Sauer put up nine more in the third quarter for the Geese and Rashid tossed in eight.
Saner’s hot hand continued in the fourth quarter as he connected on three from beyond the arc for nine points (his fifth 3-pointer of the game).
Dillon Horrie scored eight points for Wethersfield in the final frame and Rewerts added six more to his 19-point effort.
Rewerts was the high-scorer of the game with 21 points. Saner chipped in 19 points, Bowser followed with 14 and Rumbold added 11 for Stark County.
Rashid and Sauer topped Wethersfield with 15 points each and Horrie contributed 13 points.
