By The Kewanee Voice    January 28, 2025

The Prairie Players, a Galesburg community theatre group, is seeking actors and actresses for roles in their upcoming comedy.

With performance dates April 4-6 and 11-13, Steven Dietz’s bittersweet comedy, This Random World: The Myth of Serendipity, explores the near-misses and unspoken connections that shape our lives.

The play follows intersecting stories of family members and strangers who unknowingly cross paths, revealing how chance encounters and missed opportunities define our relationships. With humor and heart, it delves into the randomness of life and the human condition.

Auditions will be held Feb. 16 from 2-4 p.m. and Feb. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Prairie Players Theater located at 66 South Seminary Street in Galesburg.

The audition will consist of cold readings from the script. According to Director Todd Quick, the cast calls for eight actors: one female (60s-70s); four females (20s-40s); two males (20s-30s); and one male (40s-60s).

Quick describes the play as, “equal parts funny, heartbreaking, and thought-provoking. The characters are all beautifully drawn, three dimensional people that will be a delight for actors to play.”
