
Plans are taking shape for the annual Prairie Chicken Arts Festival set for Friday and Saturday, July 19-20.
The center of activity will be the 300 block of West Third Street, including Berrien Park and the old go kart track west of PhatBoys BBQ restaurant, but other activities will be held at other downtown locations including the 2024 Prairie Chicken Arts Festival Adult Amateur Art Show and Competition which will be held once again in lower level of New View Furniture, 117 W. Second St.
All entrants must be amateurs and must have completed their freshman year in high school at the time they enter the show. If they are under 18, they must have a parent or guardian sign the entry form.
Categories which may be entered are:
Photography — Black and white
Photography — People and/or animals
Photography — Landscape and/or flowers
Painting — Watercolors/tempera
Painting — Oil/acrylic
Graphic art — Drawing
3-Dimensional art
There is a limit of three entries per artist. Artwork must be original in design and executed by the entrant, and may not have been previously entered in this show. Entry forms and additional rules are available at the main desk of the Kewanee Public Library or online at www.facebook.com/kewaneeartsfestival.
One entry form for each entry must be brought when dropped off between 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at New View. The art entries will be on display Saturday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New View. There is no fee to enter or attend the show, which is open to the public.

First place in each category will receive a ribbon and a $75 Visa gift card.
Second place will receive a ribbon and a $50 Visa gift card.
Third place will receive a ribbon and a $25 Visa gift card.
Honorable mention in each category will receive a ribbon.
