On Tuesday, Oct. 31, Peoples National Bank presented the Kewanee Area United Way with a check for $8,200. That donation comes after the agency received an $3,000 check from Great Dane; an $1,100 donation from OSF Healthcare and a whopping $8,400 from the proceeds of a Black Hawk College pumpkin fundraiser.
Along with their corporate donors, businesses like Cerno’s, CoCo’s, Big River Resources, Galva CSB, SBT, J MAC Metals, PM Performance Cycles, Fernandos, Happy Joe’s, Sutton Realty, Mel Foster Co., Mike Miler at Edward Jones, O’Reilly Auto Parts, NAPA, AutoZone, Creative Look Salon, Blissful Branch, Prairie Chicken Haus, Scooter’s, Entwined, New View Furniture, The Downtown Eatery and Bakery, Country Morning Coffee, and Ntiva have joined together to sponsor fundraisers like Trivia Nights, the Halloween Hustle 5k, workplace campaigns and other events.
“KAUW would like to give a big heartfelt thank out to Peoples National Bank,” said Executive Director Linda Blair. “PNB has been a donor for many years and we could not be more grateful for their support.”
Blair said “that trust is an important part of any relationship. The trust that has been built over many years in Henry and Stark Counties with KAUW is the foundation of how KAUW does what it does.” The relationship, she said, is like a stool with three legs. One leg is KAUW, the second leg is the partner nonprofits that provide services in our area and the third leg is the businesses and residents that support KAUW and through KAUW address basic needs here in Henry and Stark Counties.
KAUW offers support to 16 agencies in Henry and Stark counties, with a focus of building relationships and partnerships with nonprofit agencies and community resources that benefit the residents in this area. KAUW has reached out to help plug the gap with contributions to schools, the summer reading program and to provide necessities to families.
