Switch, a 7‑month‑old, 6.5‑pound long‑haired bundle of energy, arrived at the shelter in early April after being surrendered by a kind woman who found him and his siblings on her farm. She fostered the litter and was able to place all of the kittens except Switch, who is now hoping to find a forever family of his own.
Because he grew up with plenty of room to roam, Switch isn’t particularly fond of confinement. When his kennel door opens, he’s nothing but a flash of black fur. His adventurous personality means that if he spots even the smallest opportunity for a little playtime with his friends, he bolts like lightning. Staff and volunteers say he can be entertained for hours with a simple toy waved in front of him. After he’s worn himself out, he usually finds a sunny spot on the shelter’s sunporch and chirps loudly at the birds outside.
Switch’s long hair and fluffy tail mean regular brushing is a must, but he doesn’t mind one bit. He settles in quietly, enjoying every stroke until he’s nearly asleep. He’s also an enthusiastic eater who looks forward to his morning canned food.
Switch has been fully vetted, including neutering, a rabies vaccination, FVRCP, flea treatment and deworming.
To meet this miniature Houdini, stop by the shelter during visiting hours or call 309‑852‑0040. Switch will be waiting for someone to spring him from his confines — but don’t blink, or he’ll be out and gone in a flash. His adoption fee is $60.
