William Guider, son of Alexis and Corey Buckman, has been selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to STEM this summer at Loyola University Chicago.

William, who will enter fourth grade this fall at Neponset Grade School, was nominated for the prestigious program by his principal in recognition of his academic achievement, leadership potential and maturity.

“Opportunities like this allow students to explore their interests beyond the classroom and gain exposure to future career paths through hands-on experiences,” according to program organizers.

The six-day program brings together high-achieving students from across the country to participate in hands-on learning experiences in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

While attending, William will explore the fields of medicine, engineering and crime scene investigation through interactive simulations and collaborative projects.

William has long demonstrated a love of learning and curiosity about how things work. His selection for the program reflects his strong academic performance and his eagerness to take on new challenges.

Local employer Marquis Energy contributed $1,000 toward the cost, helping to make the opportunity possible.

William is looking forward to meeting other students from around the country, learning new skills and exploring STEM careers in a university setting.
