Pet of the Week: Evercrisp waits patiently

Evercrisp may be small—just 6 1/2 pounds—but she carries herself with the quiet patience of a cat who has weathered more than her share of waiting.

She arrived at the Henry County Humane Society last June as a tiny kitten, part of a litter of six found wandering the streets of Kewanee with their mother. One by one, her siblings were adopted, then her mom, until Evercrisp was the only one left. Now about a year old, she’s still hoping for the family who will finally choose her.

At first glance, Evercrisp can seem a little shy. She prefers to make the first move, stepping forward when she’s ready for affection and those ear scratches she loves. But once she warms up, she leans in—literally—for attention, soaking up every bit of kindness offered.

She’s playful, too. Time outside her kennel with other cats is her favorite part of the day, especially if there are kittens involved. Toys of any kind are fair game, including your hands, your hair and the strings on your sweatshirt. She hasn’t spent much time around dogs, so her reaction to them is still unknown.

Evercrisp is fully vetted, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea-treated and dewormed. A quieter home without small children would likely suit her best, giving her the space and patience she needs to settle in and show her true sweetness.

If you’re willing to give Evercrisp a little time, she just might give you a lifelong companion in return.

To meet her, call the Henry County Humane Society at 309-852-0040 or stop by during business hours. She’ll be waiting for you.
