‘Person of interest’ announced in Kewanee homicide

A “person of interest” has been named in the homicide investigation into the death of a Peoria man discovered in Kewanee earlier this month.

According to a news release from the Illinois State Police, James Reed III, 26, of Kewanee, is “wanted for questioning” in the death of Damon E. Foulks, 50, of Peoria. Foulks was pronounced dead on the night of June 8 after police checked on the welfare of an individual in the 800 block of West Division Street.

“The police have not released the manner or cause of death at this time,” the news release said.

Police closed part of North East Street just north of Kewanee Friday night attempting to locate Reed in a residence there.

“Agents are actively trying to locate Reed,” the release said, adding, “The police advise the public NOT to approach” Reed.
