Pasquale’s Pizzeria had its soft opening on Tuesday, August 15 and Kewanee residents were ready. Owned by Stephen Mazzarise, the new restaurant is currently Kewanee’s only family-owned pizzeria.

Kewanee thrives when new businesses come to town, and that is the exact motivation Princeton native Stephen Mazzarise had in mind in opening Pasquale’s Pizzeria. Though not from Kewanee, he saw that the only pizza places in town were gas stations and food chains.

Growing up cooking with his family, and with uncles, who have run restaurants for years, Mazzarise decided it was time to open his own pizzeria to bring his family recipes to town. Mere minutes after opening, the phones were ringing, and people were in line to order their pizza.

Pasquale’s Pizzeria is located at 401 Tenney Street. The restaurant is operating under a limited menu and the hours are Tuesday to Thursday, 4-9 pm, and also Friday and Saturday 4-10 pm. The plan is to have a grand opening sometime in September, when their full menu will be available.
