A new agriculture building under way at Cambridge High School will bring all of the school’s ag classes under one roof.

The 5,434-square-foot building next to the high school will accommodate two classrooms, an agriscience lab, an animal science wet lab and an ag business community board room.

“What makes this project particularly special is that it is partially funded by donations from local community members, alumni, and other generous supporters who are committed to enhancing educational opportunities for our students,” said Cambridge School Supt. Jenna Bibb. This collaborative effort showcases the incredible community spirit and investment in the future of education here in Cambridge.”

Bibb noted that Cambridge FFA students brought home a number of awards from state and national conventions this year. They include:

  • National Chapter Award in Growing Leaders: The Cambridge FFA won this award for their “Día de la Agricultura” program. The program used agriculture storybooks to teach Spanish vocabulary to elementary students.
  • National Chapter Award in Building Communities: The Cambridge FFA was a top ten finalist based on their community mural project.
  • National Chapter Award in Strengthening Agriculture: The Cambridge Middle FFA Chapter was a top ten finalist in this category based on their “Touch-A-Tractor” literacy event.
  • Middle School Model of Excellence Award: The Cambridge Middle FFA Chapter placed in the top three for this award.
  • High School Model of Excellence Award: The Cambridge FFA Chapter placed in the top three for this award.
  • 2024 Premier Chapter: The Cambridge FFA of Illinois was named the 2024 Illinois Premier Chapter this summer at the State FFA Convention.
  • Also, Cambridge FFA members Maxwell Baum and Hunter Wexell placed ninth in the nation at the Agriscience Fair.

“This project combined with the recent success of FFA on the national level is an inspirational story of how the project has come together and the impact it will have on both the students and the local community,” Bibb said.
