A group of local people who are looking to bring new businesses to Kewanee has launched its first project on Tenney Street.

Site preparation has begun on the lot behind the Community State Bank location. The bank owned the site, which once was the Tenney Bowl location. That building was demolished a few years ago.

CSB spokeswoman Chanda Dowell said the bank is selling a portion of that property to a group called K-Town Real Estate.

Chris Roginski, one of the members of that group, said Thursday that the immediate aim is to get a shell building put up on the site within the next couple of months.

“We have an idea of what we want to do” with the site, Roginski said, but nothing final has been decided.

Roginski described K-Town Real estate as a “new development group,” adding that he has “a few partners” in the group.

The group, he said, has been looking for sites in the Kewanee area that would be good for business developments, and when they saw the Tenney Street location they “couldn’t resist the opportunity.”
