On Wednesday night, the Geese won a tough regional matchup against the Rock Island Alleman Pioneers.
The gym was on fire, with fans cheering on both teams. Here is the rundown of the game.
The first set started in Alleman’s favor. They gained points from good work at the net and line-up errors on the Geeses’ side. This gave Alleman a lead of 1-6.
The Geese tried to shorten the lead by tipping the ball to good spots on the court. They succeeded, keeping the Pioneers on their toes.
Alleman had good defense, picking up whatever the Geese threw at them.

The Geese called their first time out at 3-8 in favor of the Pioneers.
The Geese started to come back. Teamwork and strong kills aided them in their comeback.
The Pioneers won the first set 16-25. The Geese were ready to prove themselves.

In the second set, the Geese started with the serve. They were strong, setting a different mood for the second set.
Both teams had strong hits, allowing the score to stay close throughout the whole set.
The Pioneers called a timeout with the score being 10-11 for them.
The Geese started to pull ahead, but not by much. The Geese stayed with them, keeping the scores close.
The Geese pulled ahead, and the Pioneers couldn’t keep up. The Geese won the second set 25-21. The game would now advance to a third set.
Senior Megan Oliver started the third set with great serves, giving the Geese a lead of 2-1.
Alleman didn’t let them keep the lead for long.
Alleman worked together to achieve a lead of 2-6. The Geese called a time-out, hoping to shorten that lead.
The Geese worked together to make the score 9-10, Alleman. The scores stayed neck and neck from there.
Both teams fought hard to gain a lead. Neither was successful.
Freshman Kyleigh Anderson finished the game by completing a kill. Alleman couldn’t pick it up. The Geese won the third set 25-23.
Tonight, the Geese will play ROWVA in the regional championship. The game will begin at 6 p.m. at Bureau Valley High School.
