Lady Geese finish second in their tourney

The Wethersfield Lady Geese lost the championship game in three sets in their invitational volleyball tournament Saturday.

Orion claimed first place in the tournament with a 21-18, 19-21, 15-7 win over the Lady Geese.

Mercer County defeated Bureau Valley 21-14, 21-16, for third place; Monmouth-Roseville took fifth place with an 18-21, 21-18, 17-15 win over Princeville; and Knoxville defeated Havana 18-21, 21-14, 16-14 for seventh place.

In the preliminaries in Pool A, Wethersfield topped Princeville 21-13, 21-17; Bureau Valley topped Havana 21-18, 21-9; Wethersfield won  21-11, 21-14 over Havana; Bureau Valley defeated Princeville 21-18, 18-21, 15-11 and Princeville beat Havana 21-13, 18-21, 15-10.

Pool B scores were: Orion topped Knoxville 21-11, 21-8; Monmouth-Roseville defeated Mercer County 21-19, 17-21, 15-10; Orion defeated Mercer County 21-10, 21-17; Knoxville topped Monmouth-Roseville 23-21, 7-21, 15-12; Orion won over Monmouth-Roseville 21-13, 21-18; and Mercer County won over Knoxville 21-4, 21-14.
