KHS varsity drops two games, goes to 12-12

Kewanee High School’s boys basketball team dropped two games last week.

In a conference game against Princeton in H.F. Brockman Gymnasium, the Boilers led at halftime but ended up on the short end of a 63-58 score.

Kewanee had led 29-28 at the half, but was outscored by six points in the second half.

Josh DeWante led the Boilers with 14 points, while Griffin Hicks and Adiel Arjon each chipped in 13.

The Boilers were only 11 for 20 from the charity stripe in the game.

The next night the Boilers traveled to Farmington and lost 48-41. The loss put KHS at .500 for the season, at 12-12.

Sophomore Chris Crowe led the team with 14 points.

The Boilers led by two after the first quarter, but Farmington surged ahead to a 26-24 halftime lead.

Kewanee cut the deficit to one point by the end of the third quarter, but the hosts outscored them 13-5 in the fourth to gain the win.

Farmington out rebounded KHS 36-25 in the game.
