The Boilermaker soccer team traveled to Illinois Valley Central High School in Chillicothe on Wednesday night, Oct. 16, and won 1-0.
The Boilers started the game strong with multiple scoring opportunities and two shots off of the crossbar in the first half.

In the second half, IVC came out faster and put the pressure on Kewanee. Then the Grey Ghosts managed to get a ball by the Boiler goalkeeper while out of his net, but defender William Ly saved the Boilers with an extraordinary goal line clearance.
Throughout the rest of the game, both sides took turns generating scoring chances but neither side found the back of the net.
As the game was drawing to a close, both teams began to set their sights on overtime when Tyson Currie took the ball downfield through five IVC defenders and scored with 37.4 seconds remaining in the contest.
The shutout was the seventh in goalie Dillon Price’s career, which broke the school record in that category.
As of now the Boilers are set to play their semifinal match against Alleman at Alleman’s facilities on Friday, Oct. 18.
