Kewanee High School inducted 47 new members of the National Honor Society during the organization’s annual banquet last week.
School board member Jon DeBord was the speaker for the evening. He told the students what they can do to keep growing by using the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Service, Leadership, Character and Scholarship.
DeBord has just finished his doctorate and continues to learn, serve, show leadership and character every day, even with his own businesses. He stressed that everyone needs to keep growing by being lifelong learners.
The evening started with a dinner provided by the district food service.
The NHS officers led the evening’s events: Taylor VanWinkle-president, Katy Carton-vice president, Kalleigh Gale-secretary, Anna Chabanenko-treasurer and Kendyl DeBlieck-assistant.
