
The Kewanee freshman boys basketball team recorded back-to-back wins over Sterling and Dixon and move to 2-1 on the young season. They defeated Sterling, 56-49, and outlasted Dixon in OT by a score of 29-26.
Three Boiler players scored in double figures against Sterling. Dayvon Robinson racked up 18 points and Isaiah Ince and Slover Leeam each added 11 in the win.
Also scoring for the Boilers were Addie Arjon with eight, Carter Ensley had six and Matthew Huggins added two.
According to Coach Aaron Pratt, the Boilers struggled through the first three quarters of play against Dixon, falling behind 16-8 at the half and 22-15 heading into the final quarter.
Kewanee held the Dukes to just two fourth quarter points and Dayvon Robinson scored eight of his game-high 14 points in the fourth frame.
The game was tied at 24 at the end of regulation. Dixon scored first, but Robinson quickly answered and Kewanee benefitted from some clutch free throw shooting by Isaiah Ince and Leeam Slover to get the 29-26 win.
