The Kewanee Public Library is putting out a call to all area artists to encourage their participation in their annual art show to be held Oct. 8-16. Opening night is set for Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m.
Because of the generosity of the Friends of the Library and in celebration of the library’s 150th Anniversary, this year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Never entered an art show before? Don’t let that discourage your participation.
According to the library’s website, the art show “get[s] new artists every year. If you don’t reside within the library district, that’s okay too. We gladly accept artwork from all community artists. And we have a variety of categories that range from photography to textile art.”
First and second place prizes, as well as a prize for honorable mention, will be awarded in the categories of Painting, Graphic Art, 3-D Art, Textile/Fiber Art, Photography, and in age groups jr. high and high school.
To enter your piece, stop by the library for an entry form, then between Sept. 30 and Oct. 2 bring it in with your submission. Entries are limited to six per person, so submit your favorite.
Due to limited space, there are size restrictions for the entries and details can be found on the entry forms and art show brochures.
Judging will take place on Oct. 6 with the winners announced at the 150th Anniversary Party which is also the opening of the Art Show.
