Kewanee boys 2nd among 12-team field at Rosenberry Invite

The Kewanee boys track and field team competed at the Rosenberry Invite in Sterling Tuesday night and had a strong second place finish among the 12 teams that competed.

Morrison won the meet with 84 points, Kewanee scored 75 and Mercer County was third with 70 points. Full team results are Riverdale, 50; Bureau Valley, 47; Prophetstown, 41; Sterling Newman 41; Princeton, 22; Amboy, 16.5; Hall, 16.5; Fulton, 1, St. Bedo 0. 

Kewanee finished first in two events and Bureau Valley had one first place effort. Anthony Padilla took first place honors in the 60 meter high hurdles and JJ Roginski swept the field in the high jump. Both recorded personal bests in their respective events. Brock Shane of Bureau Valley had a winning effort of 11′ 3″ in the pole vault. 

Dontaveon Thomas had top three finishes in four events for the Boilers. He placed second in the triple jump and was third in both high and long jump. He also ran a leg on the 4×200 that placed third. Leo Gandarilla placed second in the shot put with a personal best of 15.06 meters (49′ 5″).

JJ Roginski placed third in the 800 meter run and the 4×200 relay also placed third. Members of the relay are Tre Amos, Davontae Jordon, Dontaveon Thomas and Tyson Currie.

Andrew Roth of Bureau Valley placed third in the 60 meter high hurdles and Justin Moon had a third place effort in the triple jump.
