Several area track athletes competed at the IHSA Class 1A Top Times Indoor Track Meet Friday at the Shirk Center on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
The meet serves as a primer of sorts for the outdoor track season and offers a glimpse into the state finals meet which will be held May 18 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
The Annawan/Wethersfield, Stark County and Ridgewood girls’ teams fared well at the final indoor meet of the high school track and field season.
Annawan/Wethersfield senior Kennady Anderson hauled home four medals from the meet. The University of Illinois signee had a runner-up effort in the 800M, two fourth place finishes as part of the 4×400 and 4×800 relays and she placed sixth in the 1600M run.
Ridgewood sophomore Emily Downing (3 medals) and Stark County freshman Dusti Smith (2 medals) also did well. They each had three top ten finishes in their respective events.
The A/W trio of Camryn Anderson, Kaylee Celus and Clara Bella VanOpdorp each earned two medals. Cheyenh Smith and Paytin Terwilliger of Stark County, and Jana VandeKemp of Ridgewood also picked up two medals each.
Single medal winners for the Titans were Paige Sierens, Alexis Wilson, Emelia Escareno and Tyra Jones.
Single medal winners from Stark County were Lauren Orwig, Chelsey Stotler, Claire Bowser, Alexis Martinez and Sarah Kraklow. Miranda Reed and Luca Veloz of Ridgewood also earned one medal each.
