I enjoyed vacationing with family at the lake this past week and I made a treat that’s become a favorite when we’re enjoying lake time. This is likely a recipe you’ve made before, but sometimes a reminder is all you need to make a batch to enjoy.

This treat is a dreamy mix of peanut butter and chocolate with a sweet crunch. Making this is quite easy, but it can be a bit messy. Still, it’s worth it.
It starts out by melting peanut butter and chocolate with butter, then using that melted mixture to coat the Chex cereal. From there, it goes into a bag to shake up with powdered sugar, and that’s all there is to it.

When I finished this batch, I had two hungry kids ready to enjoy it (my nephew, Derek, and son, Max). I told them that I needed a photo before they could partake.

The batch lasted a few days, and my dad resorted to calling it “dog chow,” which for some reason sounds like a very different name. It made me laugh.
This treat will be welcomed anywhere you take it. It’s a treat that’s been well-known for a long time but always enjoyed.
From our spot by the lake to you — enjoy!
Serves A Crowd
Ingredients:
1 – 12 oz. box Rice Chex
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. butter
3 c. powdered sugar
Instructions:
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth.
Place the Rice Chex in a very large mixing bowl. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal and stir gently to coat, being careful not to crush the pieces.
Transfer the coated cereal to a new paper grocery bag. Add the powdered sugar and shake until all the pieces are evenly coated and no longer sticky.
