
The Kewanee Police Department announced the results of its St. Patrick’s Day enforcement campaign, conducted from March 13 through 6 a.m. on March 23. During this period, officers dedicated a total of 12 hours specifically to traffic enforcement efforts.
As a result of this enforcement initiative, officers issued nine seat belt citations, nine speeding citations and four other moving violation citations
“We enforce traffic laws with one goal in mind—to protect lives and keep our community safe,” said Chief Stephen Kijanowski. “Our goal during St. Patrick’s Day enforcement is to keep our community safe by encouraging responsible decisions behind the wheel.”
The Kewanee Police Department joined forces with state and local law enforcement and highway safety partners as part of the St. Patrick’s Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Drive High, Get a DUI” campaign. This safety effort was funded by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
