The Hog Herald, a temporary section on The Kewanee Voice website for the last two years and a print edition in 2024, will return after the Hog Days Committee approved the partnership and sponsorship of The Kewanee Voice at its February meeting.

In March of 2023, before the Voice website was even launched, the committee agreed to support the nonprofit news organization’s mission and part of that support included the promise of a new publication to take the place of the now defunct Star Courier’s Hogsmopolitan.

The Hog Herald, which runs from June-September on the website, includes Hog Days news about ticket sales, pricing, entertainment and events including the annual Hog Days Parade. The section keeps residents up-to-date on the latest plans surrounding the festival.

Last year was the first year the Voice published The Hog Herald, turning the online section into a 16-page print newspaper that included information such as the weekend schedule, entertainment, parade news and photos. Over 2,000 copies were printed.

The latest sponsorship provided by the Hog Days Committee will ensure that the print edition of The Hog Herald will be published again this year. As part of the sponsorship, the committee also approved advertising for the event in the next two print publications of The Kewanee Voice planned for spring and early summer.

“We appreciate and are grateful to the Hog Days Committee for their unwavering support of The Kewanee Voice and we value the continued partnership we have formed with them. It’s our hope to be able to promote and support Kewanee’s most cherished festival through our website and the print publication,” said Board Chair TD Welch.
