Snow fell in Kewanee overnight, depositing several inches of the white stuff, but according to weather forecast predictions, the storm isn’t done and the worst is yet to come. The most recent storm forecast for Kewanee show that Kewanee and Galesburg could be hit the hardest. Kewanee could get accumulations of just under a foot of snow.
Cancellations and postponement announcements began in earnest Monday evening. Here is a list of those closing so far:
Kewanee School District in person classes are canceled for all schools and Tuesday, will be an e-learning day for students. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at Kewanee High School and Central from 7:30 to 8:30 am and lunch from 11:30 to 1 pm.
Wethersfield School District has also canceled classes and will be an e-learning day for students.
Visitation Catholic School will have an e-learning day.
Black Hawk College, all locations, will be closed due to inclement weather. But class registration can still be done online at www.bhc.edu/register.
Galva School District has canceled classes but will be using an e-learning day. Conditions will be assessed throughout the day on Tuesday for determination of school status for Wednesday.
Cambridge Unit School District 227 will not be in session due to snowstorm. The cancelation is a snow day and not a remote e-learning day.
Henry and Stark County Health Departments and First Choice Healthcare Clinics are closed due to extreme winter weather.
The Henry County Senior Center will be closed and the evening meal is canceled. There will be no Meals on Wheels delivery.
The Kewanee Food Pantry will be closed on Tuesday due to weather.
Grow Ministries Food Pantry in Cambridge is closed on Tuesday and will reopen on the following Tuesday from 10 am to 12:30 pm.
