Wednesday, April 1

Tabletop Club for adults
Community Room, 10 a.m.-noon

Looking for a fun, low-pressure way to meet new people and play great games? Join the library’s new Adult Board Game Club on the first Wednesday of the month.

Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or brand new to board games, this casual, social meetup is all about having fun and trying something new.

Staff will have a variety of modern and classic board games available, and they, along with fellow players happy to explain the rules. Feel free to bring a favorite game of your own or just drop in and play. No registration or prior experience required.

This program is intended for adults of all ages.  Come solo or bring a friend — games and good company will be waiting!

Creativity at the Carnegie

Calling all crafters!  Bring your current work-in-progress and visit with the group while you create.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Monday, April 20

Page Turners Book Club
Community Room, 2 p.m. and 6p.m.

This club meets on the third Monday of each month at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Community Room at KPLD.  Adults of all ages are welcome.

In celebration of Earth Day, join Road Scholar expert Nicole Flores for an introduction to this remote continent

Antarctica is the coldest, driest and windiest place on Earth, filled with geological marvels and remarkable wildlife. Explore the secrets beneath its icy surface and its fascinating history. Meet the intrepid explorers who ventured into this harsh environment and the people who live and work there today. This lecture offers a vivid glimpse of what one might encounter when visiting this extraordinary frontier.

Age Well: Spirituality, Religion and the Aging Brain 
Community Room, 3 p.m.

What happens in the brain during spiritual or religious practices and how might those changes matter as we age? In this Age Well online lecture, neuroscientist Dr. Andrew B. Newberg explores the growing body of research linking spirituality, religion and brain function. Drawing on brain imaging and clinical studies, he examines how practices such as meditation, prayer and contemplation affect areas of the brain involved in emotion, self-awareness and cognition. 

The lecture will also consider the potential implications of these findings for health, emotional regulation and overall well-being later in life.

Adults are invited to gather in the Community Room for a relaxed and welcoming poetry reading. Whether you enjoy listening to poetry, sharing your own work, or simply experiencing the creativity of others, this event offers a chance to connect with fellow poetry lovers in the community.

Dungeons & Dragons Club 
Fourth Saturday of the month
Community Room – second floor, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Ready for adventure? Join the library’s new Dungeons and Dragons Club and dive into a world of imagination, teamwork and storytelling. Designed for kids ages 10–14, this program invites players of all experience levels.

Participants will create their own characters, explore exciting quests, solve puzzles and work together to overcome challenges in a fun, supportive environment. Guided by a library staff member, sessions focus on creativity, cooperation, and having a great time.

All materials will be provided—just bring your imagination.
